Description
I developed this pattern as part of my Fall 16 collection for Misha and Puff. It was a way to use up cone ends of yarn while simultaneously training new knitters who had been drawn to the work we were doing in Peru.
The mitered garter square is easy to learn, fun to knit, travels well, and is really satisfying! I promise this will become your go-to baby gift. We encourage you to try other size yarn, different patterning, and many
iterations— how about a scarf or a bigger blanket?!
I cannot wait to see how you make this pattern your own. It’s such a wonderful way to showcase special yarn and interesting color combinations.
The only skills to master: garter stitch, decreasing, and sewing it all together. You will also get lots of practice weaving in ends.
This pattern works with any yarn in any gauge but will yield a different size square in different yarns. We used our worsted weight merino yarn to achieve the scale of the squares in the images.
This pattern is great for using up odds and ends of yarn in your stash. Use six colors to achieve the look of our sample or more for a patchwork look.
